Matter Planet’s mission is all about making it easier for you to find the products and services you want from the companies who do business within our communities. Each week, Matter Planet partners with local merchants to bring you lifestyle sales at unbeatable prices. We feature services and products for the home, automobiles, both new and used, food and recipes, apparel, and health care options, just to name a few. Best of all, Matter Planet is free to join and everyone is welcomed.
From a business viewpoint, we believe that the more people know about you and your company, the more likely they are to shop with you when they are ready to buy. Through matterplanet.com, we provide an online marketplace, social marketing opportunities, and a way for current and new customers to connect with your business. We understand that competitive small businesses need the same marketing services as big companies and oftentimes that just isn't available at an affordable price, forcing many of our local merchants out of business. We want to change that.
"We plan to do for small businesses what we did for IBM and Gannett Publishing Company. While at IBM, I had a quota of $1 Billion supported by 138 inside sales reps, and I hit the quota every year - three consecutive years. In fact, I was accused of brown bagging (a term that I had never heard) by my manager the first year I sold for IBM. Why? Because I hit my number. I was a member of the 100% Club from day one!" Cornelia Hicks, Co-Founder and CEO
We built matterplanet.com with the sole purpose of embracing your company. We feature your products and services, company profiles, an online link to your company's web site, MatterMax features, a blog, and information about Matter-Planet sponsored events.
Matterplanet.com co-founders, Leland and Cornelia Hicks, have more than 30 years of advertising and marketing experience in retail, broadcasting, technology and digital media. They are expert marketers who have won numerous awards for their strategic, creative and sales skills.
Cornelia Stokes-Hicks began her career in Portland, Oregon where she worked for ABC Television as a Public Affairs Producer. She also worked as a Public Affairs Director for independent television, and as a TV Producer for Oregon Public Broadcasting.
Cornelia's advertising work has taken her internationally where she was the Advertising Manager for the retail conglomerate Gibbons Management Services Limited in Bermuda. While at Gibbons Company, Cornelia won numerous awards for her clever, yet folksy advertising campaigns that made Bermudians rethink shopping abroad. She also worked for the Royal Gazette Publishing Company's magazine division, where she was lauded as "irreplaceable." She left Bermuda in 1996 to pursue an MBA in Marketing at Babson Graduate School of Business. Prior to graduating she interned in Holland for Bose Corporation where she researched sixteen European markets and authored a five (5) country market expansion strategy for the Bose Wave Radio. Upon graduation she joined IBM Corporation where she held a number of positions including Sales Specialist, Sales Coach, ibm.com Account Manager and Data Analyst. In 2005, Cornelia left IBM and began working full-time as the CEO of MatterMax LLC.
Leland Hicks met Cornelia in Bermuda, while he was a member of the internationally acclaimed band, "Bermuda." The two collaborated on a number of Gibbons Company projects and have been working together ever since. In addition to his musicianship skills, Leland brings exemplary retail strategy, account management, sales, media marketing and analysis, and a host of web development skills including XHTML, Flash, PHP, Content Management Systems, and Opens Source Web Solutions. Leland landed the Baranco Automotive and the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport accounts, convincing the couple that they should open their own agency.
The couple's parent company MatterMax LLC includes MatterMax Media, the award-winning interactive marketing agency that was named Advertising Agency of the Year by the Small Business Commerce Association.
“MatterMax” is a brand that is based on our company’s philosophy “maximize what matters.” Along the way, we recognized that our vision could help other companies run, grow and market their business. MatterMax Media
MatterMax Media is a small, full service interactive marketing agency. The two of us usually work alone, however, from time to time we happily engage other small businesses as subcontractors for government contracts and other creative projects.
We like to work on projects that require us to take an idea from scratch to finish. We'll brainstorm with a customer to find exactly what is needed for your business. Then we come up with an idea or two that will best convey your message to your customer. We can do this in several forms including web sites, banners and signage, high def videos, logos, promotional items, and any other medium you may want to use. We also provide business strategy, consulting and competitive analysis services. Visit mattermax media on the web at www.mattermaxmedia.com.

Third-party Advertisers, Links to Other Sites
Company allows other companies, called third-party ad servers or ad networks, to serve advertisements within the Web Site. However, please note that if an advertiser asks Company to show an advertisement to a certain audience (for example, women ages 18-34) or audience segment (for example, women ages 18-24 who have viewed certain channels of content) and you respond to that advertisement, the advertiser or ad-server may conclude that you fit the description of the audience they are trying to reach. The advertiser may also use information regarding your use of the Web Site, such as the number of times you viewed an ad (but not any personally identifiable information), to determine which ads to deliver to you.
You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers or ad networks for more information on their practices and for instructions on how to opt-out of certain practices. California Privacy Rights
A California resident who has provided personal information to a business with whom he/she has established a business relationship for personal, family, or household purposes (“California customer”) is entitled to request information about whether the business has disclosed personal information to any third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes. In general, if the business has made such a disclosure of personal information, upon receipt of a request by a California customer, the business is required to provide a list of all third parties to whom personal information was disclosed in the preceding calendar year, as well as a list of the categories of personal information that were disclosed.
However, under the law, a business is not required to provide the above-described information if the business adopts and discloses to the public (in its privacy policy) a policy of not disclosing customer’s personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes unless the customer first affirmatively agrees to the disclosure, as long as the business maintains and discloses this policy. Rather, the business may comply with the law by notifying the customer of his or her right to prevent disclosure of personal information and providing a cost free means to exercise that right.
As stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not share information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes unless you affirmatively agree to such disclosure — typically by opting in to receive information from a third party that is participating in a sweepstakes or other promotion on one of our sites. If you do ask us to share your information with a third party for its marketing purposes, we will only share information in connection with that specific promotion, as we do not share information with any third party on a continual basis. To prevent disclosure of your personal information for use in direct marketing by a third party, do not opt in to such use when you provide personally identifiable information on the Web Site. Please note that whenever you opt in to receive future communications from a third party, your information will be subject to the third party’s privacy policy. If you later decide that you do not want that third party to use your information, you will need to contact the third party directly, as we have no control over how third parties use information. You should always review the privacy policy of any party that collects your information to determine how that entity will handle your information.
California customers may request further information about our compliance with this law by e-mailing

However, Company will use your personal information in a manner consistent with the Privacy Policy in effect at the time you submitted the information, unless you consent to the new or revised policy. Your continued use of the Web Site constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy and any future revisions.
For revisions to this Privacy Policy that may be materially less restrictive on our use or disclosure of the personal information you have already provided to us, we will attempt to obtain your consent before implementing such revisions with respect to such information.
